Schizandra Berry Benefits

Schizandra has balancing, regulative and tonic properties. It is an adaptogenic herb, which means it helps your body to adapt and return to a balanced stateĀ  of calm and well-being. For example, it can stimulate your body when you need the energy boost and calm you down in stressful situations. Adaptogens increase the body’s resistance to physical, chemical and biological stress, thereby protect against damage caused by long-term stress.

For thousand of years, schisandra has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to
– slow aging, promote youthfulness and longevity
– increase energy and prevent fatigue
– improve mental function, focus, memory and clarity
– enhance physical performance and endurance
– strengthen sexual organs
– beautify skin
– aid digestion
– reduce stress hormone levels
– protect the liver

In Russia, schizandra has been widely studied since 1940s. It is recognised as an adaptogen in the official medicine in the early 1960s and has been used as an official medicinal remedy for more than 40 years.

Schisandra Active Constituents

Lignans also have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and detoxifying properties. They are usedĀ  in drugs for treating hepatitis and other liver diseases.
