What is Green Coffee Antioxidant (GCA®)?
GCA® or Green Coffee Antioxidant is derived from unroasted raw green coffee beans and is standardized for the ideal polyphenolic acid ratio. It is produced by Applied Food Sciences Inc (Austin, TX), a health and wellness organization that specializes in providing nutritional solutions for the food, beverage and supplement industries.

GCA® is standardized to contain 45.9% chlorogenic acids.

Green Coffee Antioxidant (GCA®) & Weight Loss
A 22-week study was conducted to determine the efficacy and safety of GCA® at reducing body weight in 16 overweight adults. Participants took a high-dose GCA® (1,050 mg), a low dose GCA® (700 mg), or placebo daily in separate 6-week treatment periods, followed by 2-week washout periods to reduce any influence of preceding treatment. This means participants acted as their own control group since each of them took the low and high doses, and the placebo.

At the end of the study, all participants lost weight, body fat and reduced BMI by taking GCA®. The average weight loss was 8 kg (more than 10% of body weight) and decrease in body fat was 4%. No side effects from using GCA® were reported.

How Does Green Coffee Extract Promote Weight Loss?
It is suggested that chlorogenic acids in green coffee bean extract support healthy body weight, body fat and blood sugar levels. These powerful antioxidants
– inhibit the release of sugar into the blood stream so that stored fat is burned off for energy
– prevent absorption of sugar in the intestines, thereby regulating insulin and blood sugar levels
– inhibit fat absorption and activate fat metabolism in the liver
