Xanthigen supplement has been recommended as one of the metabolism boosting supplements for burning fat on the Dr Oz show.

What is Xanthigen?

Xanthigen is a formulation that consists of brown seaweed extract and pomegranate seed oil.

Fucoxanthin is a carotenoid pigment derived from 2 types of brown seaweed, Wakame and Kombu. Brown seaweed extract in Xanthigen is standardized for fucoxanthin.

Pomegranate seeds are rich in punicic acid and contain other actives such as ellagic acid, sterols and other fatty acids. Punicic acid is a linoleic acid, one of the healthy unsaturated fatty acids.  Xanthigen contains cold-pressed pomegranate seed oil standardized to 80% punicic acid.

Xanthigen & Weight Loss

Each of the 2 ingredients is beneficial for weight loss. When combined together in Xanthigen, they are more effective than either one by itself.

Xanthigen may help promote weight loss by:
– increasing metabolic rate
– shedding excess liver fat

In a 16-week study on the effects of Xanthigen in the weight management of 151 non-diabetic, obese pre-menopausal women, it was found that Xanthigen reduced body weight, body fat, liver fat and visceral (belly) fat. It also improved liver function and increased resting metabolic rate.

Subjects with high liver fat lost on average 15.2 lbs of body weight when they took 600mg Xanthigen.
Subjects with normal liver fat lost on average 14 lbs of body weight when they took 600mg Xanthigen.
Subjects who took the placebo lost only 3 lbs.

No side effects were reported.
