2. Vitamin D
For decades, vitamin D has been known as a vital co-factor in the bone building process. It aids in calcium absorption from the intestines and increases the availability of calcium in the body.

Vitamin D works in synergistic with calcium and vitamin K for healthy bone density. Bone tissue undergoes continuous renewal whereby osteoclast cells dissolve old bone while osteoblast cells build new bone. Osteoblasts produce a protein known as osteocalcin that moves calcium into the bones. The production of osteocalcin requires vitamin D while its activation requires vitamin K.
